About Shri Shivaji Shikshan Prasarak Mandal
Shri Shivaji Shikshan Prasarak Mandal, is a trust sponsored by The Rahuri Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana. The Trust was registered under the leadership of Late Dr. Baburao Bapuji Tanpure, the stalwart pillar of Agro-Industrial Development and Co-operative Movement in Rahuri Tehsil. The history of Shri Shivaji Shikshan Prasarak Mandal would remain incomplete without reference to the efforts and achievements of Dr. Baburao Bapuji Tanpure who strived during his entire life to bring about Socio-Economic and Educational development of Rahuri Tehsil. Mahatma Phule Agricultural University appreciated and acknowledged his contribution by conferring on him the honour of the D.Litt. (Doctor of Literature) degree in February 1982. Shri Shivaji Shikshan Prasarak Mandal flourished under the dynamic leadership of late Dr. Baburao Bapuji Tanpure. The succeeding presidents, Shri. Ramdas Vishwanath Dhumal Patil and Shri. Prasad Baburao Tanpure (former MLA and M.P), added to the glory of the Institution. The Mandal is at present rendering invaluable service in the field of education through eighteen high schools, one public school, one primary school, Vivekanand Nursing Home and Ayurved College, Shri Chatrapati Shivaji College of Engineering, College of B.Pharmacy, College of Nursing, ITI, and Arts, Science and Commerce College, Rahuri.
About Arts, Science and Commerce College, Rahuri
Arts, Science and Commerce College, Rahuri was established in July 1978,under the leadership of president Dr. Baburao Bapuji Tanpure and under the guidance of Shri. Prasad Baburao Tanpure (former MLA and MP). The objective behind the establishment of the college was to meet the academic requirements and to bring about the all-round development of rural students. Prior to the establishment of the College, the female students and the socially and economically disadvantaged students in the Tehsil were deprived of higher education simply due to the non-availability of the facility in the Tehsil itself. Parents were reluctant to send girls to distant places for higher education; and the socially and economically disadvantaged students could not afford the luxury of taking higher education in other places. With the establishment of the College, the Management has brought higher education to the doorsteps of the masses in Rahuri Tehsil and has made available the opportunity of higher education to all such students.
