Loknete Ramdas Patil Dhumal Arts, Science & Commerce College

The department was established in 1979. It is one of the pioneering Departments of the College. Initially the Department offered only Under Graduate Courses. However, we also started offering PG Courses in 1995. During last thirty-five years the Department has produced good results. It is the Pride of the Department that Miss. Neeta Kolpkar stood first in the Pune University in B.A Examination in 1988. She also won Natu Foundation Fellowship. Many of the ex- Students of the department have been working as the Teachers and Lecturers in various Schools and Colleges, some are working in Banks, Nagari Patasantha, Mahatma Phule Agricultural University, Rahuri Co-Operative Sectors or their own Business and some are practicing as lawyers.

The department has maintained the tradition of high standard quality in academic performance. The Examination results prove the fact. Along with the academic responsibilities both at U.G. and P.G. levels, the faculty members of the department have arranged various functions and programmes through the department of Political Science. For Example, on the occasion of Human Rights Day (10th December) Prof. Dr. Bal Kamble From Ahmednagar College delivered a lecture on “Human Rights and recent World” under the Faculty improvement Programme of the Pune University. The department arranged extension lectures on different topics.

In Future Department the department propose to undertake different programmes like syllabus restructuring workshops/ Seminars. Guidance for women representative working in the local Self Government, co-operative institutions and few other notable issues.

Thus, the member of department have been working continually in order to make the department of Politics as much as community oriented as possible.
